The Campus Chapel Ministries board is delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Ackerman as Pastor of Worship and Community for the Campus Chapel. If the name sounds familiar, it is because Matt served as a pastoral intern at the Chapel during the 2008-09 academic year. Matt recently completed a Masters of Divinity degree at Princeton Theological Seminary.
Matt hails from Seattle, Washington, but his formative years were in State College where his father was an atmospheric scientist. He grew up with college and graduate students meeting in the family home for discussions and fellowship. At Calvin College as an undergraduate, Matt was a Jubilee Fellow in the Lilly vocational program where he developed his interests in worship and ministry.
Matt and his wife Marianne plan to move to Ann Arbor at the end of June and Matt will assume his responsibilities in early July. During his time in Princeton he worked with the Presbyterian campus ministry, even serving as interim director while the director was on maternity leave. He is eager to get reacquainted with the Chapel community, to plan the worship and ministry program for the coming year, and to start to build relationships around campus.
Matt & Marianne love the atmosphere of a university town. They frequent the local food markets and enjoy biking, hiking, and camping. They are avid readers. Their move will be slightly complicated in figuring out what to do with the ducks and chickens that they tend in their backyard in Princeton.
